Abstract

847,417. Transistor inverter circuits. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO. Ltd. Feb. 6, 1959 [Feb. 10, 1958], No. 4272/58. Class 40(6). [Also in Group XXXV] A transistor inverter comprises transistors 4, 5 connected to the centre tapped primary winding 7 and the feed back winding 8 of a high reactance transformer, the secondary winding 12, 14 of which supplies a low pressure discharge lamp 13, 15. Bias to the transistors is provided by a resistor 10 and capacitor 11 connected across a battery 6 and to the centre top of the feed back winding. Closing a switch 6 connects the positive battery terminal to the transistor emitter electrodes producing a bias voltage across the base and emitter electrodes. One of the transistors became conductive before the other thus oscillations commence. The circuit frequency increases with battery voltage and with secondary load.
