Abstract
847,152. Chaplets. FOBUS BETRIEBSG.m.b.H., L. Dec. 23, 1957 [Dec. 31, 1956], No. 39881/57. Class 83 (1). A chaplet comprises a vertically-arranged wall of perforated sheet-metal, that in horizontal cross-section comprises more than one complete convolution, with the overlapping portions thereof spaced to provide one or more passages leading to the area embraced by the wall. The chaplet may be of various crosssections, e.g. Figs. 3 and 5, and the strip itself may be corrugated, Fig. 6, and of any desired cross-section such as ribbed, Fig. 16. Further, the strip may be of expanded metal, or have cut-outs b, c, d and lugs p, Fig. 21, and the chaplet be provided with lugs e along the top and bottom edges of the spiral, which rest on the core and the wall of the mould. Alternatively, cover-plates, which may be perforated, may be inserted in the ends of the spiral or engage therewith by lugs on the cover-plate. Said lugs may engage lugs arranged in a helix on the chaplet, so that the height of the chaplet may be varied by turning the cover-plates.
