Class 64(3) [Also in Group XXVIII] A plate heat exchanger comprises a corrugated element of a thin flexible material formed from a number of plates 1 welded. together at 3 to define passages 13, 14 for. the heat exchange media, passages 14 being bridged adjacent their crests by heat insulating members 15. Stiffening bars 5 hold the corrugations in place and spacers 16 may be provided. In operation the plates vibrate to shake of scale thereon. and the bridges 15 are incorporated to assist the vibration of the plates at the crests of the corrugations.
