Abstract

846,696. Earth-excavating equipment. ELECTRIC STEEL FOUNDRY CO. May 11, 1959, No. 16140/59. Class 68(1). The front structure of a drag line bucket is formed by a digging lip 18, side cheeks 19, 20, and an arch 21. The upper edges of the side portions of the lip 18 are of wavy configuration. The side cheeks, the lower edges of which mate with the upper edges of the side portions of the lip are welded to the side portions at the junctions of the edges. This welded structure is stronger than would be the case if the mating edges were straight. The cheeks which are cast have upper tubular portions to which is welded the tubular arch 21. The rear edges of the side cheeks and. side portions and the mating front edge of the bowl of the bucket are also of wavy configuration.
