Abstract

846,461. Magazine gramophones. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Nov. 14, 1956 [Nov. 17, 1955], No. 32893/55. Class 40 (2). A magazine gramophone ofthe type described in Specification 617,864 in which 'the records are stored on a spindle coaxial with the turntable. The invention is characterized in that the upper part 17 of the spindle is of rectangular cross-section, so that it may be made from sheet metal and has a ramp 21 on one side and a recess 18 on the opposite side to guide the records on to the shoulder 12. The lowermost record is brought to a position where it is coaxial with the spindle by rotation of the sleeve 14 about the fixed spindle 13, the projection 16 engaging the hole in the record. The upper portion 17 may be removable from the post 13 or may be fixed to it, in which case the whole of the post 13 is removable to enable the played records to be lifted off.
