[Also in Group XVII] A device for setting on edge slabs 1 in a packing-machine comprises a support 4 hinged at 7 on a lever 8, the support 4 being also slidable in a bearing 10 capable of rotating about a spindle 12. As the lever 8 moves clockwise from the position shown in Fig. 1, the slab 1 assumes a simultaneous motion of translation and rotation to bring the slab 1 to the position shown in Fig. 4. In Fig. 4, the slab 1 has been placed on edge between brushes 13 and catches 14, 15. The plate 4 is then returned to the position shown in Fig. 1 where a slab 1 on a fixed plate 2 is pushed on to the plate 4 by a following slab. The slabs may be of chocolate
