Abstract
844,874. Hot plate stoves. OATLEY TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENTS Ltd. Oct. 3, 1958 [July 5, 1967], No. 21282/57. Class 126. In a gas-heated hotplate 3 movable from a horizontal position to a vertical position, the knobs 7 of the gas taps are housed substantially within a recess or recesses 8 which, in the horizontal position of the hot plate 3, is/are below a pan support (not shown), and in an upright wall 9 of a casing at least partly enclosing the burners 6, tap bodies and connecting pipe-work. The casing also comprises a panel 12 located by the edge of a return flange on the wall 11 of the recess 8. A drip tray 13 secured along one edge between a return flange 14 and the upper wall 10 of the recess 8 and spaced from the wall 10 protects the knobs 7 from radiant heat. In the vertical position, the greater part of the hotplate 3 is housed in a casing 4. The upper wall of the casing is cut away, between tongues which cover each knob 7, to allow the central portion of the recess to be used as a finger grip. Alternatively, as shown, the knobs are covered by similar parts of the housing 16 of a lamp, the inclined lamp glass 17 giving access to the recess. Specification 830,484 is referred to.
