Abstract
844,867. Injection moulding machines. FOSTER, YATES & THOM Ltd. (Wucher, R.). June 27, 1958 [May 14. 1957], No. 15239/57. Class 87(2). Two or more moulds 2, 2a . . . are brought in turn between the platens 4 of a hydraulic or other press, and clamped in position while material is injected through a nozzle 8. As shown, the moulds are slidable towards the nozzle 8 on guides 11 on an annular table 1 mounted for rotation on bearings 7 about a vertical axis O. Alternatively the whole table 1 may be displaced, or the nozzle moved towards the table. Drive means (not shown), for the table 1 may be manually or automatically controlled. Successive rotational movements may be caused to open the mould, eject the moulded article, and reclose the mould. Instead of an annular plate, the moulds may be carried by a circular, rectangular or arcuate plate. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the moulds are introduced between the platens of two (or more) injection moulding presses, e.g. for successive moulding operations using materials of different colours, e.g. for moulding typewriter keys. The clamping press and mould displacement may be inclined or vertical instead of horizontal. The injection means may be as described in Specifications 831,192 and 831,193.
