844,118. Distributing television. TELEGLOBE PAY-T.V. SYSTEM Inc. July 18, 1958 [July 22, 1957], No. 23170/58. Drawings to Specification. Class 40 (4). In a system in which a video signal is transmitted by wireless and a synchronized sound signal is distributed by a wired network, reception of the sound signal is prevented until a manually operable means is operated by, or under the control of, the subscriber. The sound signal may be scrambled at the transmitter, an unscrambler at the subscriber's premises being operated by the insertion of a coin or of a punched card purchased for the purpose. Alternatively, the subscriber may signal by lamp, buzzer or telephone to an operator at a telephone exchange who then completes the sound circuit to that subscriber.
