In an automatic tension-control system for maintaining the tension constant in a winding arrangement for use in textile spinning, twisting and winding-machines, as disclosed in the parent Specification, only one stator winding UX of a two-phase induction motor, or Ferrari's motor, 6 is connected in series with the secondaries of a control transformer 8 and a main transformer 7. The voltage injected by the control transformer tends to reduce the phase angle between the currents in the stator windings and consequently increase the motor torque. The other stator winding VY is connected to either of the phases not used to supply the main transformer.
