Abstract

841,408. Bladed turbine rotors. GEORGES, R. E. March 12, 1958 [March 13, 1957], No. 8012/58. Class 110 (3). A turbine rotor comprises two coaxial, axially-spaced plates 5, 6, a row of rotor blades 7 having their roots lying between and engaging with the peripheries of the plates, and a gearwheel 8 rigidly attached to one plate and engaging complementary recesses or teeth in tne blade roots. The gear-wheel 8 is secured to the plate 5 by making it a force fit or by shrinking it on a shoulder 10. A clearance j between successive blades 7 allows them to expand freely. Compressor blading 14 may also be provided on the outer face of the plate 5 to supply cooling fluid through passages 15 to the clearances j between the roots.
