Abstract

Bis-triazinylamino-stilbene compounds of the formula <FORM:0841189/IV(a)/1> wherein X is hydrogen or a cation such as an alkali metal, ammonium, C1-4 alkyl ammonium or C1-4 alkylol ammonium ion, are used to improve the whiteness of spinning masses composed of polyesters, polyamides and polyacylonitrile; plastics and resins.ALSO:The invention comprises bis-triazinylamino-stilbene compounds of the formula <FORM:0841189/IV(b)/1> wherein X is hydrogen or a cation such as an alkali metal, ammonium, C1-4 alkyl ammonium or C1-4 alkylol ammonium ion. The compounds are prepared by reacting cyanuric chloride successively in either order with 4:41-diaminostilbene - 2:21 - disulphonic acid, metanilic acid and diethanolamine, followed if desired by neutralization with the appropriate base. The compounds are used to improve the whiteness of unbleached calico; textiles or spinning masses composed of polyesters, polyamides and polyacrylonitrile; plastics, resins, lacquers, soaps, leather and natural or regenerated cellulose for production of paper.ALSO:Bis-triazinylamino-stilbene compounds of the formula: <FORM:0841189/IV (c)/1> wherein X is hydrogen or a cation such as an alkali metal, ammonium, C1-4 alkyl ammonium or C1-4 alkylol ammonium ion, are used to improve the whiteness of unbleached calico, textiles composed of polyesters, polyamides and polyacylonitriles, leather, and natural or regenerated cellulose for the production of paper.ALSO:Bis - triazinylamino - stilbene compounds of the formula <FORM:0841189/III/1> wherein X is hydrogen, alkali metal, ammonium, C1-4 alkyl ammonium, or C1-4 alkylol ammonium, are used to improve the whiteness of soaps.
