Abstract

840,672. Foundation garments. LEVENTHAL, G. Jan. 30, 1958 [March 27, 1957], No. 9944/57. Class 141 A girdle, pantie, brassiere &c. has a waistband comprising elastic band portions extending widthwise of the garment in cross-over relationship. The waistband as illustrated comprises two trapezium-shaped portions 5, 6 each extending completely round the waistline, their long sides 5a, 6a forming the free edge of the waistband while their shorter sides 5b, 6b and inclined ends 5c, 6c are attached to the shallow V-shaped upper edges 1a-d at the front and rear of the body part. The waistband portions are elastic at least in the longitudinal direction and are reinforced by short stiffeners 7, 8, and longer stiffeners 10 extending into the body part 1. The body part is mainly of two-way stretch fabric and reinforced by a pentagonal front panel 4.
