Abstract

840,287. Apparatus for making tea or the like. TEASY KETTLE CO. Ltd. Nov. 13, 1958 [April 11, 1958], No. 11628/58. Class 129. A container 16 for dry tea or the like is supported in a water containing vessel 10 which has a spout, pouring lip or the like 11, means being provided including a valve member 25 operable from externally of the apparatus whereby, on tilting the container, the water may be caused to flow through or by-pass the container, the proportion flowing through being variable from zero to a maximum by adjusting the valve member. As shown, vessel 10 has an annular inwardly directed flange 13 which supports a resilient sealing ring 14 on which an out-turned annular flange of the container 16 rests. A tubular portion 17 in the base of container 16 extends upwardly inside and spaced from a tube 19 depending from a perforated lid 18. Vessel 10 has a lid 21 with a slot 22 and a handle 23 which lid clamps container 16 and its lid 18 in position being locked by a bayonet joint. Within lid 21 is the rounded valve member 25 carried on the end of a pivoted lever 26 which projects through a further slot in lid 21. The apparatus is placed on a hot plate gas ring or the like or is provided with an integral electric heating element. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 661,973 and 704,273.
