839,214. Preventing corrosion. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. July 30, 1958 [July 30, 1957], No. 24095/57. Class 123(1) Corrosion of the copper alloy sheath of the looped heating element 3 of an electric immersion heater is prevented by mounting a cast-iron or mild steel sacrificial anode within the loops of the element. In the form shown the anode consists of a cruciform section cast-iron rod 4 having ribs 8...11 which project between the straight portions of the element loops, the base 7 of the rod being secured to lugs 5 depending from the heater head 1 by screws 6. In modifications the anode is of plate or cylindrical rod form.
