Abstract

839,109. Screw propellers. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. Oct. 7, 1958 [Oct. 7, 1957], No. 31945/58. Class 114. An aircraft propeller blade 20 including a shank 18 which tapers inwardly toward the blade root has a cuff 26 secured to the shank. The cuff comprises a fibre-glass shell 30, a core 36 of polyurethane foam adhesively bonded to the shell 30 and shank 18 by synthetic rubber asphalt cement layers 32, 34 and an outer covering.28 of a polychloroprene impregnated linear polyamide fabric, the leading edge of the shell 30 having a recess 38 into which is cemented an electric de-icing element 40 composed of rubber having heater wires or ribbons extending therethrough.
