Abstract

838,452. Securing means for concrete structures. UDALLS PRESTRESSED CONCRETE Ltd. Jan. 30, 1958 [April 8, 1957], No. 11397/57. Class 20(4) Fixing means in a concrete structure 14 to which are attached articles 17 such as joists, roof decking, window frames &c. comprises a metal strip 11 having a surface exposed on the surface 15 of the structure and behind which an element of soft material 16 is located. The strip is of comparatively thin metal, e.g. 18 or 24 S.W.G. and is bent into the form of a channel having a web and flanges 13 about three-quarters to one and one-half inches wide, the flanges being splayed outwardly from the web. The strip 11 is cast into the concrete 14 with the web flush with the surface 15 behind which the soft material 16 of pulpboard, wallboard, cardboard &c. may be adhesively secured. In securing an article a hole is punched in the exposed web which is screw-threaded by the use of a self tapping screw 18.
