Abstract

838,027. Agglutinated fibrous materials. SCHICKEDANZ, G., [trading as VEREINIGTE PAPIERWERKE SCHICKEDANZ & CO.]. Nov. 7, 1956 [Dec. 2, 1955; Dec. 23, 1955], No. 34063/56. Class 140. A method of producing unwoven bonded fibrous materials comprises introducing into or on to a fleece, the fibres of which lie mainly parallel to one another, threads of fibre either linearly or in curves and at suitable intervals so as to lie transverse, or mainly transverse, to the fibres of the fleece and bonding the threads to the fleece in a suitable manner so as to increase the strength of the fleece. Bonding may be accomplished by application of extraneous agglutinants, by application of solvents which attack the fibres superficially and increase their ability to adhere to other fibres, or by means of thermal treatment or pressure. The fibres of the fleece and of the reinforcing filaments rnay be natural or synthetic or mixtures of natural and synthetic fibres. Specified synthetic fibres are polyamide, polymethane, polyacrylonitrile and polyterephthalic acid glycol esters.
