Abstract

838,024. Electrostatic loud-speakers. PYE Ltd. Oct. 11, 1957 [Oct. 11, 1956], No. 31051/56. Class 40 (4). Push-pull electrostatic loud-speakers are assembled in a unitary structure in which at least one membrane or one electrode is used in common by two push-pull loud-speakers. As shown in Fig. 1, galvanized steel plates 2 form signal electrodes between which lie membranes 1 mounted in frames 3, as described in Specification 838,021, and covered with a resistive coating, as described in Specification 838,022, spacers 4 being used as described in Specification 838,023. A polarizing voltage is applied to the membranes which may be differently tensioned to separate their resonance frequencies. As shown in Fig. 2, polarized electrodes 11 comprise insulating sheets coated with a resistive layer and separate membranes 12 of polyethylene terephthalate which are coated with a conductor and may be differently tensioned. Nylon cords 14 are threaded through the apertures of the plates 11 to form spacers.
