Abstract

837,828. Roller skates. DAVIES STEEL SPECIALITIES Ltd. Aug. 21, 1958 [Aug. 22, 1957; May 16, 1958], Nos. 26504/57 and 15810/58. Class 132(1) A roller skate has synthetic plastic sole and heel parts having downwardly depending axle housings to receive metal front and rear axles, which carry wheels, the two plate parts being joined by a member which provides for longitudinal adjustment of the length of the skate. The wheels may run on synthetic plastic or metal bearing sleeves or. roller bearing wheels. Sole plate 10 has a plain or ribbed upper surface and reinforcing ribs 12, 13, 23 and 24 on its under surface and a marginal flange 14 with slots for toe straps. Moulded integrally with the sole plate is downwardly depending axle housing 17 which carries axle 16. At the rear of housing 17 is a pair of walls 20 to which a bridge plate is secured, e.g. by a bolt which connects the sole plate to the heel plate 25. Heel plate 25 has an abutment 26 for the back of the heel of the wearer with a space 28 or slots for the heel strap. The lower part of each housing 17 is moulded with a bore 18 which encloses a cushioning sleeve 29 having a bore 30 into which a metal, hard rubber or plastic bush 31 is fitted. The sleeve may be as described in Specification 834,131.
