Abstract

837,380. Extractors for electrical plug-in units. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. Oct. 9, 1958, No. 32211/58. Class 61. [Also in Group XXXVI] An extraction handle for withdrawing an electrical plug-in unit from a mounting frame 12 into which the plug-in unit has been inserted comprises interconnected cross members 1, 5 urged away from each other by springs 6, hooks 7 being provided on the member 5. The cross member 5 is carried by reduced portions 4 of parallel rods 2 which extend from the ends of the cross member ]. An electrical plug-in unit is inserted between the guide members 13 of the mounting frame 12, Fig. 4, guide sleeves 14 extending from the unit being slidable along the guide members 13. Apertures 9 are formed in an insulating board 8 of the plug-in unit. To withdraw the plug-in unit from the frame unit 12, the extraction handle is positioned so that the hooks 7 engage in the apertures 9 and at the same time the ends of the guide rods 13 enter holes 3 in rods 2. Then the movable cross member 5 is manually urged towards the cross member 1 against the springs 6 until socket blocks 10 on the plug-in unit and disengaged from plug blades 11 which are fixed to the frame 12. The movable cross member 5 may then be allowed to return to the normal position and the plug-in unit and handle further withdrawn to pull the guide sleeve 14 clear of the rods 13, Fig. 6.
