Class 44 In a means for connecting cords, straps &c. to an anchorage device, the pull on a cord when the device is anchored releases the cord, and the pull an another cord releases the anchorage device from its anchorage but maintains intact the interconnections between the cords. As applied to a connection between parachute releasing means. and ejector seat mechanism, a drogue parachute 13, Fig. 2, is attached to a cord 60 slidably supported by a rigid sleeve 61, Fig. 4, and terminating in a flexible loop 62. The anchorage device comprises the sleeve 61 having an integral pin 66 and cone 70, the latter passing through an ejector seat 11 and being releasably connected by a pin 71 attached to a strap 80 fixed at 81 to the cord 60. The loop 62 of the cord 60 is passed through a loop 64 of a parachute rip-cord 30a and is positioned over the pin 66 of the sleeve 61. On releasing the drogue parachute 13, a pull is effected on the cord 60 and the short strap 80 withdraws the pin 71 from the cone 70 of the sleeve 61 which is released from the seat 11; the pull of the cord 60 more firmly secures its loop 62 on the pin 66 and also operates the rip-cord 30a. On failure of the ejector seat mechanism, the rising of the aviator from the seat automatically pulls the cord 30a while the sleeve 61 is still anchored to the seat 11, the cord 60 slides through the sleeve and the loop 62 disengages the pin 66, thereby releasing the looped end 64 of the automatically operated rip-cord 30a so that the aviator is freed from the ejector seat and can pull a manually operated rip-cord to release his parachute.
