837,141. Poultry de-beaking apparatus. COPE, WHELON & CO. Ltd. Jan. 12, 1959 [Oct. 11, 1957], No. 31907/57. Class 81 (2). A de-beaking apparatus for poultry comprises an electrically heated cutting blade 5 co-operating with an apertured guard 6. The aperture 7 is of such size that only the correct length of beak can protrude through it for cutting off and, in order to provide for various types of birds, interchangeable plates with differentsized holes may be provided. Alternatively there may be a slide or disc with differing holes or a bole of adjustable size may be used. The pivoted arm 3 carrying the cutting blade may be actuated by a pedal through a Bowden cable or by a handle 12 working through a push rod 17. Specification 786,273 is referred to.
