Abstract

835,686. Rotary pumps. ZAHNRADFABRIK FRIEDRICHSHAFEN A.G. Nov. 25, 1958 [Dec. 20, 1957], No. 37994/58. Class 110 (2). An internally-meshing gear oil pump for unidirectional flow irrespective of direction of rotation comprises gears 7, 8, a crescent-shaped member 6 recessed as at 16, and an inlet 17. Two outlet ports 9, 10 communicate respectively with passages 11, 12 leading to opposite ends of a passage 13 wherein a valve member 19 is centrally maintained by opposed springs 20, 21 to close the delivery pipe 22. When the pump is operated fluid is delivered to one of the outlets 9, 11 or 10, 12 according to the direction of rotation, and the fluid pressure therein operates the valve 19, putting the outlet in use into communication with the delivery pipe. In a modification, Figs. 4, 5 and 6 (not shown), the delivery pipe communicates with a bore in the drive-shaft by means of an annular frame therein, enabling oil to be supplied to bearings &c. without external delivery pipes.
