Abstract

835,409. Refrigerators. HALL Ltd., J. & E. Dec. 27, 1956 [Sept. 28,1955], No. 27582/55. Class 29 Cooling means consists of a portable insulating envelope made of flexible material such as sponge rubber or foamed polyurethane sheet and means for cooling the air therein. As shown, the envelope consists of a top wall, a stepped rear wall 4 and side walls 3 mounted on a top frame 7 suspended adjustably by bolts 6 from girders 10. The envelope includes an aircooling unit 11. An open lorry carrying milk crates is backed into the envelope the lower edges of which are laced as at 18 to the lorry and a front insulating board 15 is inserted. Unit 11 then cools the crates. In modifications, the envelope may be lowered on to the lorry or crates stacked on the ground in which cases the open front is not necessary; the envelope may be cylindrical, hemispherical or bellshaped; instead of unit 11 the envelope may have an air supply duct connected to a central air-cooling plant which may serve a plurality of envelopes.
