Abstract

834,071. Potato planting machines. STOLL, W. Sept. 5, 1957 [Sept. 7, 1956], No. 28098/57. Class 6(1). A potato planting machine provided with cups 2 on an endless chain 3 which pick up potatoes from a hopper 1 is also provided with an auxiliary hopper 5 for filling any empty cups. The hopper 5 is formed of flexible grating rods 7 which are shaped to provide an entry passage 6 for the cups. As shown in Fig. 2 the grating rods 7 are fixed to a rim 10 and are slidably mounted in an upper rim 9. In a further embodiment the grating rods are fixed to an upper rim and the lower rim is omitted.
