832,394. Automatic speed control systems. SPERRY GYROSCOPE CO. Ltd. June 23, 1958 [June 27, 1957], No. 20357/57. Class 38 (4). [Also in Group XXXIII] In a helicopter, the rotor speed is maintained substantially constant with movement of a rotor pitch control lever 2 by controlling a throttle 12 of an engine 13 by means responsive to rotor speed variation and position of the control lever. The means comprises a differential lever 16, connected to the throttle, having a pivot mechanically coupled to the control lever, the other pivot being positioned by a servomotor 11 controlled through an amplifier 9 by the potential difference between a direct voltage from a tachogenerator 14 sensing rotor speed, and a reference voltage from a potentiometer 7. The reference voltage is varied by a twist grip 5 moving a slider 6 of the potentiometer.
