832,237. Mounting indicating-apparatus. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Oct. 10, 1957 [Oct. 17, 1956], No. 31671/56. Class 106 (4). An instrument mounting for use in a situation in which the instrument 10 carried by the mounting is subjected to acceleration in a direction fixed relative to the mounting, comprises a distortable bracket 13 attached to a distortable support structure 12 and having an attachment surface for the instrument 10, the bracket 13 and support 12 having their properties of resilience matched with one another so that the bending of the bracket 13 and support 12 under the influence of forces communicated across the attachment surface and having the fixed direction are mutually compensating, whereby the orientation of the attachment surface to the fixed direction is independent of the acceleration. Applied to an accelerometer for use in a guided missile the bracket may take the form of'asymmetrically truncated cone 14, solid or hollow, attached to a resilient wall 12.
