Abstract

831,457. Regulating; starting injection engines. HOLLEY CARBURETOR CO. Sept. 30, 1957 [Oct. 15, 1956], No. 30498/57. Classes 7(3) and 7(6) [Also in Group XXVIII] The stroke of a fuel injection pump is controlled by a lever system connected to a diaphragm subjected to the inlet manifold pressure of the engine. The lever system may be connected to the diaphragm 82 by means of a bi-metallic spring 92 which allows extra fuel for a cold start; in addition a member 114 sensitive to oil, air or water temperature or exhaust heat controls an air bleed 108 into the connection from the manifold to the diaphragm to provide extra fuel for cold starting and fast idling when cold.
