Abstract

Natural or synthetic rubber latex is vulcanized by adding to the latex a polyfunctional polymerizable olefinic monomer and submitting the resulting mixture to the action of high energy ionizing radiations such as high-energy electrons, X-rays or gamma rays. The monomer may be divinyl or trivinyl benzene, divinyl naphthalene, diallyl phthalate, adipate, sebacate, terephthalate, isophthalate or maleate, triallyl cyanurate or trimellitate, tetra-allyl pyromellitate, orthoallyl phenyl allyl ether, bis-allyl diethylene glycol carbonate, ethylene dimethacrylate, glyceryl triacrylate, diethylene glycol dimethacrylate or polyethylene oxide dimethacrylate.ALSO:Natural or synthetic rubber latex is vulcanized by adding to the latex a polyfunctional polymerizable olefinic monomer and submitting the resulting mixture to the action of high-energy ionising radiations such as high-energy electrons, X-rays or gamma rays.
