Abstract

Shampoo compositions comprise pulverulent cadmium sulphide, and silicon dioxide of size about 0.01-0.1 micron, in an aqueous medium containing a synthetic detergent. Suitable detergents are triethanolamine lauryl sulphate, the diethanolamide of lauric acid, alkyl aryl sulphonates, polyoxyalkylene alkyl phenols, sodium alkyl sarcosinates, sodium sulphosuccinic esters and dodecyl b -alanine. Gums, e.g. sodium alginate, guar, gum tragacanth or methyl cellulose, scent, and ethanol, iropropanol, propylene glycol, or the monoethyl ether of diethylene glycol may also be present. The preferred ranges of concentration are: cadmium sulphide 1-2%, detergent 5-15%, silica 1-3%, gum 1-2%.ALSO:Corrective shampoos for the control of pruritis, eczema and non-specific and seborrheic dermatoses comprise pulverulent cadmium sulphide, and silicon dioxide of size about 0.01 and 0.1 micron, in an aqueous medium containing a synthetic detergent. Examples of useful detergent are triethanolamine lauryl sulphate the diethanolamide of lauric acid, alkyl aryl sulphonates, polyalkylene alkyl phenols, sodium alkyl sarcosinates, sodium sulphosuccinic esters and dodecyl b -alanine. Also present may be gums, e.g. sodium alginate, guar, gum tragacanth or methyl cellulose. The term "aqueous medium" does not preclude the presence of ethanol, isopropanol, propylene, glycol, or the monoethyl ether of diethylene glycol. The preferred ranges of concentration are: cadmium sulphide 1-2.5%, detergent 5-15%, silica 1-3%, gum 1-2%.
