Abstract
829,139. Nuclear fuel elements. UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY. May 21, 1958 [May 28, 1957], No. 16857/57. Drawings to specification. Class 39(4). A nuclear fuel element comprises fuel enclosed in a protective sheath and enclosing a sealed hollow space. Expansion of the fuel tends to distort the space rather than burst the sheath. Sodium may be enclosed to improve thermal contact between the fuel and the sheath.
