828,870. Slaughter-houses. O'NEILLY, W. J. Oct. 7, 1958 [July 12, 1957], No. 22124/57. Class 20(1) [Also in Group VI] A turntable 7 with cradles 9A to 9D for holding a carcase in suitable position for flaying is located in an abattoir. The abattoir comprises an entrance 2, a stunning box 4 and a suspending conveyer 5 over a trough 6 to catch the blood. The carcase is then transferred to another overhead conveyer 54 where the head and foreshanks can be removed and each carcase is passed on to one of the cradles 9 where on rotation of the turntable to each station N.S.E.W. part of the skin is loosened by cutting, e.g. with tools as in Specification 609,236. The complete hide is dropped at station 15, the carcase is split at 16 and is conveyed by a conveyer 10 through a cooling booth 13 and then through a refrigerating chamber from which it exits at 3. There may be several co-axial turntables 7, one above the other.
