Abstract
828,734. Induction motors. RAWCLIFFE, G. H. May 19, 1958 [May 30, 1957], No. 17216/57. Class 35. In a conventional two - speed, change - pole induction motor in which the stator winding is connected in series star or series delta for the low speed and parallel star for the high speed, additional stator windings AW of high - speed pitch are brought into circuit at the high-speed connection to buck or boost the working flux to maintain it at the optimum value in spite of the changed connection of the windings. As shown for a 2 : 1 speed-change arrangement, the windings are energized in series star at terminals a, b, c for low-speed operation, and at terminals A, B, C with terminals a, b, c connected together forming a parallel star arrangement for high-speed operation. According to the invention, the auxiliary windings AW of pitch appropriate to the high-speed are connected between high-speed supply terminals A<SP>1</SP>, B<SP>1</SP>, C<SP>1</SP> and the centre points A, B, C of the main windings.
