828,529. Coin-freed apparatus dispensing measured quantities of liquids. JESSEL, J. G. April 25, 1956 [May 4, 1955], No. 12956/55. Classes 27 and 106(5) Coin-freed apparatus for dispensing beverages comprises several measuring chambers 3 each connected through an inlet valve 5 to a reservoir 1 and through a separate outlet valve 6 to a delivery spout 7 and the rods 8, 9 for each pair of valves are slidably disposed one within the other and moved in opposite directions by linkage from a single foot 16 which is operated when the receptacle 17 is pushed under the delivery spout. As shown, two reservoirs, one for tea and one for milk, are provided and the valves together from the foot 16 by linkage comfor each measuring chamber are operated together from the foot 16 by linkage comprising a T-shaped counterweighted or spring-loaded lever 13, rods 12, 12<SP>1</SP>, and cross-bars 10, 11 which pass through slots 18, 19 in the valve rods so that, when the chambers are to be re-filled, the outlet valves close before the inlet valves open and vice versa when discharging the contents of the chambers. An inserted coin tilts a coin balance 22 sufficiently for a member 20 to be removed from the path of the lever 13 and allows the lever 13 to be moved further so that by acting on the member 20, it tilts the coin balance against the action of a spring 24 and allows the coin to fall into a coin box 25.
