Gear-wheels particularly for use in gear pumps are generated from a basic rack, the tooth form of which, perpendicular to the tooth or axis thereof, is made up of two oppositely-disposed arcs a, a<SP>1</SP>, the centres of which lie a small distance on opposite sides of the pitch line to the teeth. The arcs may join at a common tangent point or they may be connected by short tangent lines. The gears may be straight spur or helical.
