Abstract

The invention comprises the 21-trimethylacetates of 1-dehydrohydrocortisone, 1-dehydroaldosterone and D 1,4-3,20-dioxo-9a -halo11b , 21-dihydroxy-pregnadienes, and the preparation of the 21-trimethylacetates of D 1,43,20 - dioxo - 11b ,21 - dihydroxypregnadienes by reacting trimethylacetic acid or a functional derivative thereof with a D 1,4-3,20-dioxo11b ,21-dihydroxypregnadiene or a functional 21-derivative (e.g. 21-halide). Examples detail the preparation of 21-trimethyl-acetates of 1-dehydroaldosterone, 1-dehydrohydrocortisone and 1-dehydro-9a -fluorohydrocortisone. Specification 825,210 is referred to.
