Abstract
825,862. Protective coating of ferrous products by electrolysis. UNITED STATES STEEL CORPORATION. Sept. 6, 1956 [June 22, 1956], No. 27373/56. Addition to 745,676. Class 41. The method of the parent Specification is modified by extending the hexavalent chromium ion concentration range to 0.3 to 2.1% by weight and the phosphate radical concentration range to 1 to 8.4% by weight while maintaining a pH of from 1 to 2, the current density employed being from 15 to 90 amps./sq. ft. The preferred temperature is between 120 and 140 F. The cathodic treatment of the invention may be followed by an anodic treatment under similar conditions.
