Abstract
825,245. Crimping yarns; twist-tubes etc.; heating arrangements in textile spinning &c. machines. TRICOTFABRIEK L. TE STRAKE N.V. July 9, 1957 [July 9, 1956], No. 21793/57. Classes 120(2) and 120(3) In a process of crimping monofilament and multifilament yarn by twisting, heat-setting, untwisting and cooling, the yarn is subjected to a vortex of gas which forms the yarn into, and rotates, a loop in order to false-twist the yarn. In the apparatus shown, filaments 11 supplied from bobbins 1 are fed through a tensioner 2 and united to form a three-ply yarn which passes through a heating tube 3 provided with a heating coil or internal medium such as hot air or liquid. Yarn entering and leaving a vortex chamber 4 through apertures 6 and 7 is rotated by a high velocity gas stream supplied through one or more inlets 5 and flowing tangentially to the general direction of yarn travel: the gas may also effect the cooling. The yarn passes through a control guide 8 and an eye 9, reciprocation of which may cause stepwise passage of yarn through the apparatus, thence to a spool 10. Composite apparatus, Fig. 2 (not shown), comprises a heat exchanger for the tubes, as at 3, and a wind-box for the chambers, as at 4.
