Abstract
823,271. Cardboard boxes. RIGID CONTAINERS Ltd., and BURDITT, H. Oct. 17, 1957 [Oct. 25, 1956], No. 32567/56. Class 18. A cardboard box, Fig. 2, has a downturned flange 12 around its upper edge so that an external collar or skirt is formed under which the foot of a stapler can be pushed when stapling or stitching the flange 21 of a lid 16 thereto. The box has a partition 7 shaped to form a handle 7a that passes through a central slot 22 in the lid 16. The handle blank in Fig. 4, is folded about the line 17 and inserted in the box by engaging the slits 9 with corresponding slits in the side walls 3 of the box, the projecting tabs 8 then being folded back against the sides 3 and tucked under the skirt 12. The end walls 2 are also tucked under the skirt 12 of extensions of the side walls 3.
