Class 20(2) A ladder having a tubular metal stile 10 has rungs having axially extending ribs 14 which when the end of a rung is expanded into engagement with the edge of a hole 15 in the outer side of the stile, during manufacture, bites into the metal and prevents rotation of the rung. The end of the rung is finally swaged against the stile.
