Abstract

820,731. Endless conveyers. VICARS Ltd., T. & T. (Petersen Oven Co.). Nov. 18, 1955, No. 33016/55. Class 78 (1). An endless conveyer 10 pivots at 18 so that loaves 25 passing from conveyer 11 to conveyer 12 are switched to an alternative path (by shoot 45), there being a reversal of drive of either conveyer 10 or 11 during the pivotal displacement to avoid damage to loaves. Thus, frame 16 of conveyer 10 carries twin endless belts 24, and is caused to pivot about shaft 18 by ram 56 of pneumatic cylinder 55 and is driven by motor 30. Upper and lower limit switches 62, 64, operated by frame 16, are included to govern the action of the ram 56 and of the motors 30 and 75 (not shown) of the conveyers 10 and 11, so that, when conveyer 10 begins to pivot, conveyer 11 is driven in the opposite direction to feed loaves backwards from the pivoting conveyer, and, when conveyer 10 is completing its movement, the drive to conveyer 11 is again reversed so that it again feeds the loaves forward and they fall down shoot 45 on to the transverse conveyer 50.
