Abstract

[Also in Group XXX] In a roller conveyer, of the kind in which each spindle 11 has rotatably mounted thereon a plurality of transversely spaced roller elements 13, each spindle is made of resilient metal tubing and is slit at 17 from end-to-end. Each element 13 includes a sleeve-like hub 15, the diameter of the bore of which is slightly less than the outside diameter of a spindle. The elements 13 are forced along the spindles and as they are moved to their required positions, the part of the spindle in contact with the inner surface of a hub is deformed temporarily. When an element is in the required position, it is held against movement by the pressure exerted by the deformed tube. Specifications 746,882 and 754,346, [both in Group XXX], are referred to.
