Abstract

820,335. Two-part couplings. TOURELL & CO. Ltd., A.G. Jan. 3, 1958 [Jan. 3, 1957], No. 324/57. Class 38 (1). A three-pin, three-way adaptor for a three-pin outlet socket giving a three-pin outlet socket on each of three faces of a body of rectangular crosssection, has a body comprising a three part moulding, the centre part of which carries the pins and has two opposite chambers for the accommodation, respectively, of the current carrying conductors and the earth conductors, the remaining parts forming covers for the chambers. The body 1 has on its upper part a chamber which houses the current carrying parts consisting of the pins 6 and 7 each with its associated sockets 20 and 21, and each having a small pressing 25b and 25a attached to provide another socket 27. The sockets 20, 21, 27 fall opposite openings such as 22 and are normally obscured by shutters 36, 37, 38 each held in place by a spring 39 and operated by the earthing pin of the appropriate plug. The pins 6 and 7 are retained in place by a cover 2 which is held on by a nut and bolt which also fixes the cover 3 over a chamber in the lower part of the body 1. The lower chamber houses a pressing which clips on to an earth pin and forms sockets for the inserted earth pins.
