Abstract

820,334. Slicing-machines. GLOBE SLICING MACHINE CO. Inc. Dec. 28, 1956 [June 1, 1956], No. 39489/56. Class 28 (2). The sliding weight pusher 14 which urges a food block towards the gauge plate 4 of a slicing knife 3 is provided with hooks 25 which can be swung round to enter into the food block. The hooks can be pressed in further to draw the edge of the pusher 14 against the food block. The pusher is also provided with prongs 17. In Fig. 7 a long food block 30 is engaged and pushed by the hooks only, as end pressure is not possible owing to the projecting of the food end beyond the shoot 6, 7. In Fig. 8 a narrow food block 30 is prevented from wobbling sideways by the hooks. The pusher 14 is pivoted to a bracket 12 urged downwards by a coil spring 11 on the rod 90 on which the bracket slides. The pusher and bracket can be swung to inactive position behind the wing 7 of the shoot as in Fig. 5 where it is held by co-operating semicircular pins 18, 19, which yieldingly lock together (Fig. 6, not shown). The pusher has fibre &c. cushions 36 on its edge to minimize the shock of contact with the shoot in either position. Specification 745,974 is referred to.
