Abstract
819,960. Compartmented containers. METAL BOX CO. Ltd. June 4, 1958, No. 17919/58. Class 66. A container comprises an inner tube 1 secured within a longer outer tube 3, the sides of the inner tube being next to the sides of the outer tube and one end 4 of the inner tube being near one end 5 of the outer tube, wherein the opposite end of the inner tube has an aperture 7 in its base 6 sealed by a diaphragm 8 and forming a partition across the outer tube. The tubes 1 and 2 are of spirally-wound cardboard, each tube having an inner liner 2 of moisture - impervious material. Lever lids 10 are fitted at each end of the tube 3 ; and the end 4 of the tube 1 is secured to the tube 3 by a member 9. The diaphragm 8 may be ruptured, e.g. by a screwdriver, and the contents of the two compartments thereby mixed. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the tube 1 is secured to the tube 3 by adhesive and is not held by the member 9. The diaphragm 8 may be of polythene, cellulose acetate or paper. The container may have a permanent closure at one end of the tube 3 ; or both ends may be closed by caps engaging the outside of the tube 3.
