Class 20(3) A window or door frame, constructed from metal bars a of rectangular channel section, has weather and glazing supporting flanges b, d respectively formed thereon and a reinforcing piece f or p of channel or tubular section which is inserted in at least one bar of the frame and is secured by a bonding resin. The bars a are mitred and secured together at their ends, fastenings, location pads, not shown, and corner inserts g being inserted before the reinforcing pieces are fitted. The flanges b of the bars a co-operate with a face of a fixed frame c. The free edge of each side of the reinforcing piece is preferably thickened to form a lip h which engages in a corresponding groove in the bar a.
