Abstract
818,572. Deodorizing gases. CELLULOSE DU PIN. Jan. 30, 1957 [Feb. 3, 1956], No. 3345/57. Class 81 (1). [Also in Group VIII] Gases released in a sulphate process for the manufacture of paper pulp are deodorized in the presence of oxygen or air, as by passing them through a ring or rose 2 into contact with a caustic soda solution falling as a spray 3 from a perforated plate 6 and withdrawing them through a pipe 8. The solution which may include sodium sulphide and may be at 30‹ to 40‹ C., may accumulate to a level N, above the rose 2, and may be circulated by a pump 4 &c. It may be used in the sulphate pulp preparation after collecting sulphur &c. from the gases which are deodorized. A pipe 9 ventilates the enclosure.
