815,912. Electrical apparatus assemblies. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. Feb. 10, 1956, No. 4262/56. Addition to 806,835. Class 37. In rack-mounted electronic equipment built up, in accordance with the parent Specification, from a number of identical plug-in basic electronic circuit sub-panels interconnected in groups by electrical equipment to form a plurality of electronic functional devices which are also electrically interconnected to form the complete equipment, the interconnecting equipment between the functional devices is now also carried by plug-in sub-panels forming multipurpose units (say gating circuits) identical with one another and capable of fulfilling any of a number of purposes according to the manner in which they are connected to the basic circuit sub-panels, and the functional devices and, in turn, the complete equipment, are formed solely by suitably arranged wiring between the two types of sub-panels. The interconnecting sub-panels 16 and the basic circuit sub-panels 23 are provided with contacts 17 for plugging into jack strips 21 arranged at the rear side 20 of the rack 18, so that the whole of the variable interconnecting wiring may be between the jack strips and thus located at the back of the rack.
