Abstract
815,287. Non-contact closet pans. DONALD B. G., and ROWNSON DREW & OLYDES. DALE Ltd. Oct. 7, 1955 [Oct. 12, 1954], No. 29391/54. Class 26. A non-contact closet pan comprises an elongated trough 1 with an inlet 14 for flushing water, an excess water outlet 5 so shaped as to retain some of the water in a depression 2 formed in the bottom 3 of the trough, and side walls 10, 11 the inner surfaces of which converge smoothly upwards so that the distance between their upper inner edges 10a, 11a is less than the width b of the surface of the retained water. The axis of the inlet 14 is inclined downwardly substantially parallel to the inclined inner surface of the forward part 16 of the trough bottom 3, the outlet 5 is arch-shaped with a lower edge 8 forming a weir, and the edges 10a, 11a are preferably straight. The pan rests on the bottom of a sunken pit by means of the depression 2 and a leg 17, with its continuous outwardly projecting flange 12 substantially flush with the floor. This flange is somewhat inclined inwardly and its surface 12a is roughened to form a good gripping surface for the feet.
